The Blood of Dawnwalker Legendary Weapons: All Swords and Gear Locations
Legendary gear in The Blood of Dawnwalker is not a single loot table you grind. It is three separate systems wearing one rarity colour, and knowing which system a piece belongs to is the difference between a targeted detour and hours of wasted in-game days. Community trackers currently put the count at 50+ legendary items — that figure comes from a single guide site's own tally, not an official Rebel Wolves list, so treat it as a working estimate rather than a confirmed total.
This page organises what is actually confirmed by how you acquire it: fixed world locations you can walk to, quest chain rewards you have to earn, and the merchant and random pools you farm. If you are still deciding where your points go, pair this with our best builds and skills guide.
How Legendary Gear Works in Dawnwalker
Three things shape every acquisition route:
- Day and night change what you can wield. By day Coen fights as a human with a sword and spellbooks. After sunset he shifts to vampire form and fights with claws — his runic scars seal and spellbooks become unusable. A legendary sword is therefore a daytime investment, and some pickups need night powers to reach. See day vs night for the full split.
- Skills gate your effective damage, not your access. The three trees — Swordmastery, Witchcraft, and Vampirism — cap at level 50, and abilities unlock from manuals rather than pure level-ups. Four Swordmastery mentors and six Witchcraft merchants are the confirmed sources.
- Activation Charges drive the payoff. Successful attacks, blocks, and parries build charges that fuel Active Abilities, including the Burning Blood hex and the Artery Attack finisher, which can decapitate a badly weakened enemy. A legendary sword matters most in the window a finisher opens. Mechanics live in combat system.
The 50+ number is community-sourced
No official item list has been published. The 50+ legendary count and most individual stat claims come from player-maintained guides. Exact stats, drop rates, and map coordinates are TBC — not officially confirmed yet, and this page deliberately avoids inventing them.
Category 1: Fixed Location Legendaries
These sit in the world at set points. Once you know where they are, they are guaranteed — no RNG, no quest prerequisites confirmed. They are the best early targets because they cost you travel time and nothing else.
| Item | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Knightly Ring | Ring | Fixed world placement |
| Arbiter's Medallion | Amulet | Fixed world placement |
| Mindbrace Amulet | Amulet | Fixed world placement |
| Ancient Footwear | Boots | Fixed world placement |
Exact coordinates are TBC — not officially confirmed yet. What is worth planning around is that accessories cluster here: rings, amulets, and boots are disproportionately fixed-location items, so a build's support slots can be filled without touching a quest chain. Weapons skew toward the other two categories.
Category 2: Quest Chain Rewards
These require you to actually finish a line of content. You cannot pick them up, and you cannot buy them.
| Item | Type | Route |
|---|---|---|
| Imbued Sword of St. Mihai | Sword | Quest chain reward |
| Runic Enchantment | Enchantment | Quest chain reward |
The Imbued Sword of St. Mihai is the upgraded relative of the base Sword of St. Mihai, itself a confirmed legendary. Runic Enchantment is the odd one out here — an enchantment rather than a wearable — and it interacts with Coen's runic scars, which means it does nothing in vampire form. Read vampire abilities before you build around it.
Because quest chains eat in-game days off the 30-day clock, decide early which chains you are running. A legendary sword you unlock on day 27 is a trophy, not a tool.
Category 3: Merchants and Random Pools
The third route is commerce and chance. Merchant inventories refresh, so a vendor who has nothing today is worth revisiting — this is the intended farming loop rather than a bug.
The one hard price point confirmed so far:
| Item | Source | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| The Purge | Merchant | 3,750 denarii |
Everything else in this category — which vendors stock which legendaries, refresh interval, and the composition of the random pool — is TBC — not officially confirmed yet. Six Witchcraft merchants are confirmed to exist for manuals, and they are a sensible first stop when checking stock, since you are visiting them anyway.
Every Confirmed Legendary Sword
Six legendary swords are confirmed by name so far. There are almost certainly more given the 50+ estimate, but these are the ones you can plan for:
| Sword | Acquisition |
|---|---|
| Durandal | Confirmed legendary; exact location TBC |
| Sword of St. Mihai | Base version of the quest-chain Imbued variant |
| The Purge | Merchant, 3,750 denarii |
| Gladius | Requires Shadow Step at night |
| Erkas' Sword | Confirmed legendary; route TBC |
| The Vrakhir | Confirmed legendary; route TBC |
Durandal
Durandal is the name most searched and the one with the least verified detail. It is confirmed as a legendary sword; its precise location, stat line, and any prerequisite are TBC — not officially confirmed yet. Be sceptical of any guide quoting exact numbers for it.
Gladius: the Shadow Step Pickup
Gladius is the clearest actionable case in the whole list. It cannot be collected in human form — you need to be in vampire form at night and use Shadow Step to reach it. Practically, that means:
- Wait for or trigger nightfall, accepting the cost against the 30-day clock.
- Enter vampire form, which locks out your sword and spellbooks for the trip.
- Shadow Step across the gap, grab the sword, and hold it until sunrise to actually swing it.
It is a small puzzle, but it is the template for how traversal powers gate loot. If a legendary looks unreachable in daylight, the answer is usually a night power.
Farming and Route Planning
- Front-load fixed locations. They are deterministic. Clear the accessory slots — Knightly Ring, Arbiter's Medallion, Mindbrace Amulet, Ancient Footwear — before committing days to quest chains.
- Bank denarii early. The Purge alone is 3,750. If merchant legendaries scale near that price, money is the real bottleneck, not luck.
- Re-check vendors on a loop. Inventories refresh. Fold vendor checks into trips you are already making rather than dedicating days to them.
- Batch night pickups. Gladius and any other night-gated item should be collected in the same nocturnal window so you pay the day/night switch cost once.
One sword is usually enough
With a level 50 cap and manual-gated abilities, spreading across every legendary sword is worse than committing to one and investing Swordmastery around it. Collect broadly for completion, build narrowly for power.
Legendary Gear and the Gear of the Gods Trophy
There is a trophy called Gear of the Gods tied to legendary equipment. The precise requirement — whether it wants a full set equipped, a specific count collected, or one of each category — is TBC — not officially confirmed yet. If you are chasing it, the safe assumption is that the fixed-location items and merchant purchases both count, which makes the three-category approach on this page the efficient path. Our trophies and achievements page tracks the rest of the list.
Legendary Weapons FAQ
How many legendary items are there? 50+ by community count. No official total has been published.
Can I get everything in one playthrough? Unclear. The 30-day limit and branching quest chains make a single-run sweep doubtful; the number of missable items is TBC — not officially confirmed yet.
Do legendary swords work at night? No. Swords are human-form only; night is claws.
Which legendary should I get first? Whichever fixed-location piece is closest. They are free and guaranteed.
