Welcome to our Blood of Dawnwalker wiki — the hub for every guide on this site. The Blood of Dawnwalker is an open-world dark fantasy action RPG from Rebel Wolves, the studio founded by The Witcher 3's game director. It launched September 3, 2026 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and puts you in the boots of Coen: human by day, vampire by night, with 30 days to save his family. This page covers the essentials and links to everything else we've built.
What Is The Blood of Dawnwalker?
The Blood of Dawnwalker is a single-player, story-driven dark fantasy action RPG built on Unreal Engine 5. It is set in a reimagined 14th-century Europe and is the first chapter of a brand-new role-playing saga — the debut title from Rebel Wolves, published by Bandai Namco Entertainment.
The studio's own tagline for it: "The world needs what it fears." You are Coen, a young man turned into a Dawnwalker, forever treading the line between the world of day and the realm of night — fighting for your humanity, or embracing the cursed powers, to save your family.

Story and Setting: Vale Sangora, 1347
The game is set in AD 1347 in Vale Sangora, a fictional valley hidden in the Carpathian Mountains. War and the Black Death have gutted the human population. The vampires, led by the ancient Brencis, walked out of the shadows while humanity was at its weakest — overthrowing the feudal lords and imposing their own rule, complete with blood taxes.
You play Coen, a young man turned into a Dawnwalker: a being caught between the human world of day and the vampire realm of night. His family — including his sister Lunka, who survived the plague thanks to Brencis' blood, and his gravely ill mother Esme — is in the vampires' hands. Coen has 30 days and 30 nights to save them, and every choice about how to spend that time is yours.
Key names and places to know:
- Vale Sangora — the valley where the game takes place
- Svartrau — the valley's only true city
- Greifberg Castle — Brencis' seat, above Svartrau
- Brencis — the vampire lord and main antagonist
- Lunka — Coen's sister
- The Vrakhiri — the vampire rulers of the valley
The supporting cast is already taking shape. Among the humans: Marat, the rebellion's charismatic but suspicious leader; Lacra, driven by revenge; and Anca, who helped Coen learn to read. Among the vampires: Xanthe, an ancient Greek priestess turned blood-drinker, alongside Bakir and Ambrus in Brencis' court.
Core Mechanics at a Glance
Day and night: two toolkits
By day, Coen is human: trained swordsmanship (his father Pieter, a former mercenary, taught him the blade) plus ritual magic carved into his own flesh. By night, the vampire takes over: claws, heightened senses and traversal powers like Shadowstep and Planeshift that let him scale walls and rooftops. The same location opens different routes depending on your form — a clue unreachable by day can become trivial at night.
Daytime magic is ritualistic and costly. Practitioners carve runes into their own flesh, and confirmed spells include Burning Blood (damage over time), Feral Mind (turning enemies on each other) and Compel Soul (questioning the dead). At night the runic scars seal themselves, and vampiric instinct takes over instead — so each form carries its own powers, never both at once.
The 30-day time system
Coen's deadline is 30 days and 30 nights, but only quests — not exploration — advance the clock. Every time-costing action is telegraphed with an hourglass indicator, so you always know the price before you pay it. Run out of time and the game doesn't end: your family pays the consequences instead. Our full breakdown lives in the how long to beat guide.
Three skill trees
Progression runs through three trees: Swordmastery, Witchcraft and Vampirism. Build a duelist, a blood mage or a night predator — or a hybrid that changes with the sun. Vampirism comes with a cost, though: at night, Coen must manage his Blood Hunger, and how you feed is your choice.
A narrative sandbox
There is no hard line between main and side quests. You can assault Brencis' castle early (surviving it is another matter), skip entire storylines, kill important NPCs, side with the human rebellion — or finish the game without ever meeting them. Choices lock and unlock content, romance options are confirmed, and the game ships with multiple endings.
Getting around
There is no horse. Coen travels on foot, by fast travel across the world map, or — at night — with supernatural traversal that turns rooftops and walls into roads. Each region's difficulty locks the first time you enter it, so where and when you go is a strategic decision.
