The Blood of Dawnwalker Final Boss: How to Beat Brencis
This guide draws on official information from Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco for The Blood of Dawnwalker (released September 3, 2026). Sections marked as unconfirmed reflect details that are not yet officially verified.
Brencis is the final boss of The Blood of Dawnwalker, but there is no single mandatory route to him. The standard campaign unlocks A Deal with the Devil after Coen defeats the three boyars. You can then fight alone, arrive through Lacra's or Crake's finale, or accept Brencis's bargain and skip the battle. You can also force an early castle entry without clearing the Court.
This guide separates verified launch routes from what current sources do not establish. One published no-commentary run documents two fight phases on the Lacra/Patricide route; it does not justify inventing universal move names, health thresholds, elemental weaknesses, or exact timing windows for every route.
Finale and family spoilers
Route names, quest requirements, the boss transformation, and ending trophies appear below. Make a manual save before beginning the finale if you want to see multiple outcomes.
Standard Route: Unlock A Deal with the Devil
- Finish the prologue to unlock the Court menu.
- Raise the Anger of Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe through their Court Activities.
- Complete their confrontation quests: The Gilded Gauntlet, The Lunar Game, and Xanthe's route.
- Defeat all three boyars. Launch walkthroughs report that this leaves Coen at maximum Infamy.
- Advance to the next day so the Edict scene can play. Brencis then sends a parley message and A Deal with the Devil enters the journal.
- Follow the night objective to Shrike's Crag and use the signal fire when prompted.
The Court route only needs enough activities to fill each Anger track, not every activity on the map. Synchronizing the 11 scouting towers first exposes nearby activities as question marks and makes this stage much easier to route. See Infamy and Edicts before pushing to the maximum, because Svartrau's final Edict affects access and vendors.
All Verified Ways to Reach Brencis
| Route | Requirement | Boss result |
|---|---|---|
| Solo / Folk Hero | At the parley choose “Enough. Time to end this.” | Fight Brencis without Lacra or Crake |
| Lacra / Patricide | Finish Lacra's chain and begin Midnight Reckoning with her | Fight with Lacra in the opening phase |
| Crake / Knyazmaker | Finish the Manumit chain and proceed through Rise at Dawn / Fall Before Dusk | Fight with Crake and Manumit support |
| Turncoat | Hear Brencis out, agree to the deal, then complete the hideout betrayal objective | No Brencis boss fight |
| Early castle assault | Enter Greifberg before completing the normal Court route | Starts the ending sequence early |
Lacra route
Complete A Friend Like This → Song of the Mountain → Hive and Seek → Our Rotten Roots. The Night of Horrors is optional for the ending requirement; Midnight Reckoning is Lacra's ending quest. Proceed with her to earn Patricide after defeating Brencis.
Crake route
The required resistance path begins The Firebrand → Shadows in the Woods → Where Loyalty Lies, then continues through the later Manumit quests to Rise at Dawn and Fall Before Dusk. Proceed with Crake to set up Knyazmaker. Optional quests in that chain are not presented here as mandatory.
Turncoat route: skip the fight
At the initial parley, choose “I just want my family back.”, avoid sword-marked hostile responses, then confirm “I'll do it.” Brencis asks Coen to identify the Manumit hideout. Progress the resistance chain until the hideout is known, then interact with its entrance at night to continue the betrayal. Lacra's and Crake's later routes also offer their own last chance to accept Brencis's deal.
Early Greifberg Entry
The launch endings guide documents two early entrances:
- Castle wall, night: approach Greifberg and use Planeshift plus Shadowstep to climb the wall. The game displays an ending warning before the trigger.
- Northwestern side gate, day or night: reach the path northwest of Vedera Shallows Shrine. Either cooperate with Father Florin through In the Name of the Father, or defeat Gheorghe, the Rabid Duke at the eastern Rakovica bandit camp and loot the side-gate key.
Early access is a challenge route, not the recommended first clear. It bypasses boyar progression, ally setup, and much of the power gained from the open world.
Preparation That Is Actually Verifiable
- Keep a permanent manual save before A Deal with the Devil. The game supports 54 manual slots, and the finale branches early enough that an arena-door save is too late for Turncoat and ally selection.
- Finish both ally chains before that save if you want Patricide and Knyazmaker from one run.
- Stay inside 30 days if you want the family rescue and In the Nick of Time. Passing the deadline produces a separate failure outcome, although free roam remains available.
- Clear the three boyars on the standard route. Their quest decisions do not determine the four normal ending trophies, so choose their outcomes for rewards or role-play.
- Use a separate save before an early assault. Crossing Greifberg's warning begins ending content before normal preparation is complete.
- Do not build around an alleged Brencis weakness or recommended level. No successfully accessed source used for this update provides a verified weakness table, health value, level threshold, or best-build requirement.
For general resource and control setup, use best builds and skills and combat system, but do not mistake general vampire mechanics for a confirmed Brencis-specific move list.
Brencis Fight Phases: What Is Verified
A launch-version Patricide video labels and timestamps this structure:
| Phase | Video timestamp | Verified staging |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | 5:19–9:58 | Coen and Lacra fight Brencis |
| Phase 2 | 9:58–14:07 | Coen fights Brencis alone after the Grotesque Ascendant transformation |
That is strong evidence for the Lacra route shown, not proof that every solo or Crake route has identical staging, timing, targeting, or ally behavior.
Phase 1: Brencis with Lacra present
Use the ally as a pressure window rather than assuming she will carry the encounter. Attack when Brencis is occupied, then return to defense before he changes target. Short commitments are safer than long strings because phase two removes the ally shown in this route. Preserve healing and other limited resources for that solo segment instead of spending everything to race the first health bar.
Phase 2: Grotesque Ascendant, solo
The documented transition leaves Coen alone against Brencis's transformed form. Treat the transformation as a fresh learning check: create distance long enough to read its reach, defend through the full sequence, and punish only after the sequence ends. Saving resources for this phase is the practical consequence of the verified two-part structure.
Evidence boundary
The accessible video verifies the phase names, participants, order, and approximate duration. It does not provide narrated move names or frame data. Current text walkthroughs verify routes and ending choices but do not publish a reproducible Brencis attack table. Therefore this guide does not claim exact combo counts, damage types, resistance values, stagger rules, health percentages, or a universal strategy for routes not shown.
Save and Ending Order
- Defeat all three boyars within the deadline.
- Complete Lacra's and Crake's required chains.
- Wait for the Edict/parley trigger, then make a protected manual save.
- Use the save for Turncoat, solo Folk Hero, Lacra's Patricide, and Crake's Knyazmaker.
- Keep early endings and the 30-day failure outcome separate from this finale save.
